Milk Ranch guzzler build, WHIN 2026

Number Eight: The Milk Ranch Guzzler Build

June 6 and 7. South Schell Creek Range, above Cave Valley. Dry ground, big sky, and a WHIN crew out at Milk Ranch with one job: put water on the mountain.

Milk Ranch was our eighth guzzler of 2026. Eight new water sources on the Nevada landscape in one season. We dug, hauled, set the tank, and sealed it tight so it catches every drop of rain the desert gives.

We did not do it alone. NDOW ran the project. The Elko chapter of the Mule Deer Foundation sponsored the build. Meadow Valley Wildlife Unlimited helped feed the crew. The Fraternity of the Desert Bighorn was there too. The volunteers showed up early, worked hard, and left the site better than they found it.

When summer hits, mule deer, elk, antelope, chukar and dove will find water where it counts. That is the whole point.

This is conservation with calluses.
