Tonopah fence build

A collaborative effort between the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) and Wildlife and Habitat Improvement in Nevada (WHIN) has successfully completed a fencing project to protect critical habitats in the state. The fences were designed to keep wild horses out of sensitive areas where overgrazing threatens native vegetation and wildlife. By safeguarding these ecosystems, the project supports species like mule deer, pronghorn antelope, and sage grouse. WHIN’s funding and NDOW’s expertise ensured the fences were both effective and environmentally sustainable. This initiative reflects a commitment to balancing Nevada’s iconic wild horse populations with the needs of its native wildlife.
