Nevada’s Free Fishing Day

On June 11, Nevada’s Free Fishing Day was a great success, offering families the opportunity to enjoy fishing without the need for a license. In collaboration with the Nevada Department of Wildlife and Wildlife and Habitat Improvement of Nevada, a nonprofit Outdoor Sportsman’s group, the event brought the community together for a day of fun and education. Anglers could fish in any public water statewide, with all regulations still in place. At Veterans’ Memorial Park in Boulder City, from 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., families participated in a special event where albino catfish were stocked in the pond. Anyone lucky enough to catch one won a special prize, an alternative to tagging, which can harm fish. This event was an excellent way to introduce young people to urban wildlife and foster a love for the outdoors, while also promoting wildlife conservation efforts.
