The Flight of the Bighorns

Some projects don’t make the highlight reels, but they’re the work that keeps wild places wild. Moving bighorn sheep from Valley of Fire up to Antelope Island is one of those jobs — hanging out the side of a helicopter with a net gun, dust blowing, adrenaline spiking, trying to outsmart an animal built for cliffs.

It’s not glamorous. It’s loud, it’s rough, and you end the day smelling like sweat and jet fuel. But seeing those sheep take off on new ground… that’s the reward. That’s conservation in real time — a little chaos, a little courage, and a whole lot of purpose.
